Barclays Business Banking Takes Office at Apex Plaza

Inside Business

September 2005

Acting on behalf of Prudential, Campbell Gordon and Colliers CRE have jointly let the 8,101 sq.ft at Apex Plaza, arguably the best building in Reading town centre, to Barclays Business Banking.

Barclays has taken a new FRI lease for 15 years, with a tenant's break in the 10th year. The passing rent is £22 sq.ft, Barclays have been granted a market rent free and an additional rent free given in lieu of works to be carried out (the space currently contains the previous tenants fit out).

Keith Wise, Partner at Campbell Gordon says:

"We have always felt strongly that Apex Plaza is the premiere office building in Reading town centre. The recent refurbishment and this letting, when there are many other buildings to choose from, I believe supports this view. This year has not seen many big lettings in Reading town centre, and this represents perhaps the most significant to date. The appeal of Apex Plaza is further underlined by a sub-letting to Hanson, which was another of the top 5 town centre deals this year."

Toby Marden, Associate Director of National Offices at Colliers CRE, adds:

"We are delighted to welcome Barclays to Apex Plaza. This represents the second deal with a banking occupier in the past 12 months, and will be a positive addition to the range of existing professional service, IT and other occupiers in the building."

Darren Lonergan, Associate Director at Atisreal, Barclays' retained adviser, says:

"Apex Plaza was an ideal match for Barclays' search criteria, given the quality of the space and its excellent location close to the station."

Campbell Gordon and Colliers CRE acted on behalf of Prudential, ATIS Real acted for Barclays.
