Approval for additional homes at Egham site

Gemco Property Investments, owner of Bellbourne Nursery near Egham and Virginia Water, has secured consent for an additional 5,000 sq ft of residential development on the site.

The consent adds to several earlier permissions for residential and other uses such as retail. The various permissions now provide for a total of 30,000 sq ft of accommodation.

The site was originally used as a plant nursery and has been an industrial and open storage facility more recently.

Reading-based Campbell Gordon has been appointed to sell the site on behalf of Gemco.

Rob Marson, who is advising on the sale, said: “This three-acre site is a rare opportunity to acquire a freehold site in this prime location in an extremely attractive and affluent area, which also has excellent access to the M25.

“It, therefore, provides both a great residential development opportunity, or, alternatively, a commercial development/investment. This new planning consent means that there is now the ability to build out a total of just over 30,000 sq ft on this site.

“This level of site coverage still represents an exceptionally low density which means there are significant landscaping opportunities as a residential site or a very large yard if taken for commercial use.”

The new consent was granted at a meeting of Runnymede Borough Council’s planning committee on December 16 with a vote of 12 to three.
