61 homes approved at Bracknell & Wokingham College site

Cala Homes has won permission to build 61 houses and flats on the former Wick Hill campus of Bracknell and Wokingham College.

The 1.424-hectare site was acquired by the developer via agents and advisers Campbell Gordon who acted for the college and, on Thurdsay, November 9, Bracknell Forest Council’s planning committee approved the plan.

It will mean demolition of the old college and nursery buildings totalling 3,709 sq m and there will be new access onto Johnstone Close for part of the site. The remainder will be accessed via existing access road in Sandy Lane.

The development will consist of 36 one, two and three bedroom flats 25 three-bedroom houses. Three of the flats will be affordable.

Initially an application for 65 homes was submitted but later withdrawn over concerns about quantum, design, layout, trees, highways and drainage.
