December 2021 - Thames Tap
Thames Tap partner Lochailort has won the Residential Developer of the Year award for the success of Reading’s first Build-to-Rent scheme.
Lochailort was delighted that Thames Quarter won Residential Development of the Year at the Thames Valley Property Awards on December 9 for Thames Quarter, its development of 315 Build-to-Rent apartments adjacent to Reading Station.
Thames Quarter, which is owned by M&G Real Estate, was completed in the summer and is already almost two-thirds full with 200 of the 315 units let.
Lochailort managing director Hugo Haig said: “We have worked tirelessly for the past 10 years to produce the first purpose-built Build-to-Rent building in Reading.
“We were fortunate to have a great site and to have an allocation for a tall building in Reading’s Local Plan. The tall building policy had been around for 10 years and nobody had been able to make it stack up – until Thames Quarter.”
“The development is a pioneering and innovative creation, with substantial residents’ facilities and amenities.”
“Watkin Jones has done a fantastic job in building Thames Quarter in 33 months and M&G had the vision and the commitment to make it all happen, and in no small part thanks also to Campbell Gordon (for M&G) and CBRE, who were retained by Lochailort.”
“We are enormously grateful to everybody who worked with us to create this award-winning, pioneering, state-of-the-art building.”
Duncan Campbell, director of Campbell Gordon who was retained by M&G Real Estate, submitted the award.
